Overview

1966 Superformance GT40

1966 Superformance GT40 P/2445

Ford's GT40 cemented its place in history with four straight wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1966-1969, as well as wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring and other historic endurance races. The GT40's timeless design and winning legacy has made it among the most sought-after collectibles from the golden age of international sports car racing. This continuation Superformance GT40 brings that heritage into the 21st Century with a perfect combination of vintage authenticity and modern driving enjoyment.

Finished in a rich GM Silver Flare Metallic with gloss black twin and sill stripes, this MkII's exterior options include a driver side Gurney bubble for taller drivers, twin black bullet mirrors, front nose scoop divider and vertical diffusers. The front end is equipped with a lift system to navigate speed bumps and steep driveways.

P/2445 is powered by a Prestige 427 small block Ford Windsor producing 570 horsepower. The V8 delivers high performance as well as a high-impact appearance, thanks to a beautiful 8 stack Webber intake setup and blue Ford Performance valve covers. The engine is mated to a performance-built Porsche 50-52 transaxle.

Rolling stock consists of 15-inch wineglass style wheels wrapped in Hoosier TD-R tires. Rear brake ducts have been fitted along with the strut system for the rear clam shell.

The cockpit transports the driver to the Mulsanne Straight in 1960s competition style, with racing seats with ventilation grommets and harnesses, period Smiths gauges, and toggle switches for key functions. A reverse backup mirror / camera is a subtle but useful touch of modern convenience.

Authenticity was the Superformance engineers' goal when re-creating the GT40. It carries the GT40/P chassis number and is built to the exact standards of the car back in the 1960s. It is so authentic that over two thirds of the rolling chassis parts are interchangeable with the original GT40s.

GT40 P/2445 is titled as 1966 Superformance in Montana and has 163 miles. It is currently available for $249,995.
